Students learn about the assembly and applications of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs)! A demonstration of “edible” MOF crystals that change color when they adsorb carbon dioxide was presented. Students viewed MOF crystals using a handheld microscope, played with TinkerToys, handled 3D prints of different MOF materials, and explored a large-scale MOF installation piece. Thank you to SRET teaching fellow Evelyn for the invitation, to Parker Academic Center for hosting, and to the Charlotte Teacher’s Institute. Images by Amy Hart.
